ACRYLIC LANDSCAPES WORKSHOP
INSTRUCTOR: BEN BIRES

Do you love the natural beauty of our high plains and mountains? Come paint your own landscape with Ben's guided instructions. Using acrylic paint, we will work background to foreground with a simple, loose approach to mark-making. The class will go over techniques such as color mixing, blending and layering. We will have print outs of landscapes to work from, but feel free to bring in a photo if that's really what you want to try. You will leave class with a finished piece ready to grace your wall, and new skills to practice at home. If you are inspired to learn more, try Ben's 4-week Acrylic Landscapes class!

This class happens as part of our satellite partnership at Auric Gallery, 125 E. Boulder Ave. Enjoy the natural light and curated beauty of this lovely space, as well as nearby dining and shopping.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR

Ben’s encouraging style of teaching provides a welcoming atmosphere to enjoy a creative outlet. He’s all about bringing people together and having a good time while getting to know his students’ goals. He will push you out of your comfort zone and do whatever he can to make you a better painter. His love for the outdoors brought him and his wife to Colorado Springs in 2016, which led him to begin teaching landscape painting classes here at Cottonwood shortly after. A big fan of music, there’s always some good tunes playing in class to set the tone for a productive paint session. His loose painting style involves bold color balanced with dramatic brushstrokes that captures emotion and creates a sense of movement in his scenes.
