WRITING CHILDREN’S BOOKS

Over the course of four weeks, we'll delve into the magical world of writing for children. This beginner-friendly class is a space to explore ideas for drafting and producing stories for kids of all ages. The class will focus primarily on the art and craft of writing, but we'll also discuss the relationship between words and pictures that is unique to the genre. By the end of the course, you'll be on your way to writing the children’s story you've been wanting to tell.

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Elissa Hutson is a writer, editor, and multidisciplinary artist. A graduate of Sarah Lawrence College (BA) and Arizona State University (MFA), she has eight years of experience teaching creative writing, rhetoric, and narrative theory at ASU and CU Boulder. Elissa’s fiction was selected by Aimee Bender for National Public Radio Selected Shorts. She is the recipient of the Glendon and Kathryn Swarthout Award in Writing, and she serves as Associate Editor (Fiction) at Image Journal. Elissa grew up backpacking with llamas and harvesting red and green chile in New Mexico. She makes her home in the mountains of Colorado. www.elissahutson.com
