Recommended for ages 16 and up. All experience levels are welcome.
The Sandbox is a world of sensory play, discovery, tools and techniques, noticing and understanding, imaginative and messy. Each 4-week section will be a new adventure! Learn a variety of resources, that can be implemented across many genres.
In The Sandbox, each class focuses on subjects and techniques of an artist’s practice. Classes include information, demos, and practicing both with and without guidance. Each student receives personalized attention directed to wherever you are in your work. Build your confidence! Have fun! Let’s Play!
MATERIALS
All materials are supplied with a $20 fee payable to your instructor at the start of the first class. You may want to bring a smock or apron, and gloves to protect your hands and clothes. It’s The Sandbox after all!

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Karen Mosbacher (she/her) is a multidisciplinary artist, who works collaboratively with many genres of artists. Mosbacher has a Bachelor of Fine Art and a Master of Divinity, with emphasis in the history and spirituality of art. Karen has exhibited in galleries in several states in the US, as well as Canada, France, and Italy. Mosbacher’s creative practice includes painting, illustration, mixed media, design, installation art, and interactive art exhibits. Karen is known for her synesthetic work, especially her colorful paintings of music. Mosbacher attentive style of teaching will show you many ways to express yourself by understanding techniques, art history, art practices, thoughtfully considering your media, and how to move forward in your practice as an artist. Karen moved to Colorado Springs from Santa Fe, NM 4 years ago, and lives and works on the north side of the city with her canine studio assistant, Ruby.
