SPOKEN STORY
THE SPOKEN STORY
INSTRUCTOR: ELISSA HUTSON
Everyone has a story to tell! We’ll kick off the class by discussing the traditions of written and oral storytelling and by listening to examples of recorded narratives. Through free-writing exercises and generative prompts, you’ll begin to shape your own. This might be a specific memory that is significant to you, a piece of family history you’d like to archive, or a work of fiction—whatever is interesting, exciting, and meaningful to you. By the end of the class, you will leave with what you have written and if you choose, a recording of you telling your story—great as a keepsake, family memorabilia, or a gift for a loved one.
MATERIALS
All you need is your ideas and something to write them on! You don’t need a recording device. A USB drive or laptop is optional. I will email your recording to you after the class if you wish.
NEW DATES COMING SOON!: TUESDAYS | TBD! | 6 PM TO 8 PM | $120
