SONGWRITING
WITNESS MY MOMENT: AN INTRODUCTION TO SONGWRITING WITH CURIOSITY
INSTRUCTOR: ALPHA NUGIN
Songwriting is both storytelling and a way to connect music and lyrics. Every single one of us is a galaxy, full of expression that transforms us and the people around us on a daily basis. We make up little ditties to sing to our friends, family, and children; we repeat our grocery lists to ourselves in an almost melodic order, rarely thinking about it. See, as wonderful as songwriting is for musical expression, it is also a good way learn about ourselves and share with those we love. Songs allow our inner child to stay curious and focused. There are thousands of ways to help focus us, get more from our lives, and express ourselves better. Songwriting, can be incredibly healing.
The purpose of this 4-week course is to encourage you to approach your life with curiosity through songwriting. See, when you do, you’ll find songwriting to be an even deeper step into self- discovery.
This class will cover the basics of songwriting (the seemingly mundane things that really are quite fun), The Importance of Talking to Yourself, Telling Your Story, and How to use the world around you when facing that annoying ol' Writer's Block Trickster. By the end of this class, You will have a song that boasts a different way to express yourself that you didn't even think was possible.

A little bit about me, I’m a singer/songwriter. I am a self taught singer and a quasi taught guitar player. I’ve been performing in and around Colorado for 13 years. I’ve had a wild career in that I was taken under the wings of drag performers, burlesquers, and theater kids. This greatly affected the way I write songs and my source material. Well, it was that coupled with autism and being homeschooled. I am incredibly self aware, sometimes to a fault, and no one wanted to listen to me ramble about all the things in my head. Writing songs helped me figure out how to express myself and showed me that taking time to sort through my emotions was beneficial.
