POP ART MIXED MEDIA
POP ART MIXED MEDIA PAINTING
INSTRUCTOR: STEPHANIE MOON
Have you ever wondered what inspired the pop artists of the 60s? How did collage begin as an art form? Come learn these answers along with basic foundational art techniques as we combine collage and pop art to create a dynamic piece of art. During part one of this workshop, you will learn how to create a collage on flat canvas (and when/why collage became a part of art history). You will also learn about pop artist Roy Lichtenstein and borrowed imagery, and you’ll select or create a pop art image using modern tools. During part two of this workshop, you will learn transfer methods, basic color mixing, and how to use brushes and paints to complete your successful painting. You will leave class on day two with a 11x14 inch mixed media piece of art in the style of pop art!
**This class is suitable for students 16 and up. No prerequisite skills are needed, although you will find a small amount of prior painting experience will make the execution of this style smoother.

Stephanie Moon has been creating and teaching in Colorado Springs for the past 15 years. Originally from Michigan, Stephanie developed a deep love of nature and the arts, which is obvious in her work. Stephanie has a BFA in Painting from Western Michigan University, and 15 years of experience teaching both high school and adult students. While Stephanie’s work is characterized by intense color and concentrated mark making, she believes the key to a budding artist’s success is experimentation and the embrace of individual strengths.
Stephanie is a full-time artist whose work you can find in Colorado Springs, Estes Park, Breckenridge and Steamboat. When she is not in the studio creating and teaching, she is probably out hiking or spending time with her husband and red heeler.
