PHYSICAL DISTANCING FOR CLASSES
IN-PERSON CLASSES ARE HAPPENING,
WITHIN RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES and also
some of our own:
As of May 27, 2021, Cottonwood is no longer requiring our visitors and artists who have been fully vaccinated for COVID-19 to wear masks upon entering our facility. We strongly encourage patrons who have not been vaccinated to continue to wear a face mask while inside our facility. Cottonwood would like to remind you that although we maintain the highest possible standards of recommended sanitation and social distancing in our classrooms, we cannot guarantee that our environment is risk-free. Here is what we can promise:
• Your classroom will be sanitized both before and after class.
• No class will have more than 12 people in the classroom and in most cases there will be 6 or fewer attendees.
• Your workspace will be positioned at least 6 feet apart from others with the exception of the throwing wheels in Pottery classes.
• Summer Camp and Youth Art Classes: At this point, campers 11 and under are not required to wear a mask while in our building, nor are vaccinated campers 12 and older. Summer Camp be spending plenty of time in fresh air using our outdoor courtyard space, and all classes are still implementing social distancing strategies, sanitizing, and hand washing to keep everyone safe indoors. We'll update our policy as info comes in--stay tuned!
• You are asked to skip class if you feel any symptoms associated with COVID-19*--we'll do everything we can to offer either a make-up session or a pro-rated refund for any missed class.
• You are asked to report a positive COVID-19 test result to our Education Director, Annie Pieper, who will share that anonymous result with your classmates in order to give everyone the best possible chance of stopping the spread. Call or email Annie at classes@cottonwoodcenterforthearts.com or 719.244.7826.
• Anyone who finds their surroundings unsafe may leave the building and request a full refund by contacting Annie at classes@cottonwoodcenterforthearts.com.
PLEASE NOTE: Any classes that take place outside Cottonwood Center for the Arts may still require face mask wearing. If you aren’t sure, please check in with Annie at classes@cottonwoodcenterforthearts.com.
We are happy to report that with these protocols in place, we have had zero COVID-19 infections associated with our classes or our building as a whole. We consider our education program a vital service, and we will continue to offer classes as long as we, and the local and state governments feel if it is safe to do so.
Thank you for your continued support for the arts and our community,
Annie Pieper, Director of Education
