INTRO TO PAINTING WITH OIL AND COLD WAX
INSTRUCTOR: TISH LACY REED

If you are adventurous and looking for a medium that is delicious in its playfulness then this one is for you! Cold wax provides all the gorgeous layering and luminosity of hot encaustic, without the toxic fumes and bulky heating equipment. In this workshop you will build layers upon layers, then scrape beneath the surface to create texture and reveal unexpected patterns. We will use oil paper, oil sticks and paints, cold wax, solvents and a variety of tools to play with as we explore the techniques of layering, inscribing and mark-making. Each piece is a fun and exciting journey for the novice and experienced artist alike, and you'll leave with enough information to create beautiful artwork on your own. This class is recommended for students 14 and up.
