Looking for a creative way to express your feelings during February? We will explore the expressive world of collage during this guided mixed media painting class. Learn how to apply paper to canvas, glazing and splattering techniques, image transfer techniques and paint application. Whether you create a piece of art to convey your love (or your disdain), you will be prompted to consider the images and words that embody the emotions you wish to express. You will leave class with a finished piece of art on stretched canvas, ready to display or gift to your valentine. Recommended for ages 13 through adult.
MATERIALS
Materials are provided for a $10 supply fee. (9x12 canvas, paints, brushes, etc)
You are encouraged to bring your own ephemera (ticket stubs, sheet music, letters or other flat paper mementos) to truly make the piece your own, although Stephanie has a collection of vintage imagery you can use. Bring your own apron if you are messy!

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Stephanie Moon has been creating and teaching in Colorado Springs for the past 15 years. Originally from Michigan, Stephanie developed a deep love of nature and the arts, which is obvious in her work. Stephanie has a BFA in Painting from Western Michigan University, and 15 years of experience teaching both high school and adult students. While Stephanie’s work is characterized by intense color and concentrated mark making, she believes the key to a budding artist’s success is experimentation and the embrace of individual strengths.
Stephanie is a full-time artist whose work you can find in Colorado Springs, Estes Park, Breckenridge and Steamboat. When she is not in the studio creating and teaching, she is probably out hiking or spending time with her husband and red heeler.
