Biography
Kumi was born in Japan and resides in Colorado.
She is a woman of many talents, but her passion for art and floral design is what drives her. Kumi's works are a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity, and created with a special attention to detail that is evident in every stroke she makes on canvas. When it comes to art, Kumi has a lot of different interests. She likes to design floral arrangements as well as paint still life and portraits.
She honors the traditions of her culture while also celebrating their beauty and the natural world around her. Her floral artwork is inspired by the colors and design of traditional Japanese Ikebana floral arrangements. She loves their ability to balance form and function while still remaining beautiful.
Kumi's work has been featured at various galleries in Colorado Springs, such as Manitou Art Center and Cottonwood Center of the Arts. She had her first solo art exhibition in September 2023 at Cottonwood Center for the Arts, which featured a selection of her most recent paintings and prints.
from the artist
In my art, I like to capture the beauty of lines and bright colors. My inspirations are from the Ikebana's (traditional Japanese flower arrangements) lines, simplicity, and spaces. Various mediums and different shapes of canvases allow me to express different ideas.
