Have you ever wanted to learn to make your own yarn? The drop spindle is a simple and ancient tool that is used to make yarn from loose fibers like wool, silk, cotton and flax. This process of creating yarn is called spinning. In this introductory class you'll learn about different types of fibers and practice the basic skills needed to spin yarn on a drop spindle. Spinning is a very hands-on process that requires good finger and hand dexterity and a bit of patience. It is also an incredibly soothing and beautiful craft, with endless creative possibilities.
MATERIALS
All materials are supplied with a $30, payable to your instructor at the start of class—includes a drop spindle and wool fiber.
