The pendulum of Art History is always swinging between Truth and Beauty. The early Greeks were about Truth while the Romans favored Beauty. The 1800s Romantics favored Beauty. Then, in the early 1900s, the pendulum swung back toward Truth with The Bauhaus in 1917 (center for New Age visuals).

This return toward Truth in the early 1900s was evidenced with a new approach to art education. Instead of copying the old masters, art students were encouraged to play and experiment with different ideas and mediums in order for each student to find his or her own unique style or process. Wassily Kandinsky is given much credit for finding the words for this new, revolutionary approach to the creation of art.

While, Kandinsky’s paintings are beautiful, he would never have encouraged anyone to copy them. He saw the importance of each person’s Truth being told. He prized originality above skill and he believed that “if only one person sees your Truth, you will have made the world a better place”.

We are a group of artists who follow the Kandinsky philosophy by adhering to the principles of Creativity, Originality and personal Truth.
