Patience Heyl

Artist's Biography

Combining her love of teaching with painting on location, Patience has been serving the Five Star Broadmoor Hotel as Resident Artist since 1999. Instructing in painting, drawing and photography, Patience has instructed guests from around the world.

Inspired by light and the poetry of nature, Patience captures an essence in her work that speaks louder than paint. The Artist is listed in the Penrose Library Special Collections Clipping file and her work is represented by Hayden Hayes Gallery and Gallery Two-Ten in Colorado Springs.

Patience was selected as the artist to represent publications for Palmer Land Trust and her photography enhances the hallways of Memorial Hospital North in Colorado Springs. Versatile in both watercolor and oil, Patience is included in private collections within the United States, Mexico, and Europe.

Artist's Statement

If my instruction in the fine arts has in some way unleashed the individual creative spirit of a student by breaking through a sense of limitation, I have achieved my purpose.

I create art because it is who I am. My work does not come from me, it comes through me…In those quiet moments of no thought, I feel a nudge, "paint this", and the rest is a wonderful journey. Although I paint from nature, sometimes the figure, occasionally a still life, I always paint from my heart, eager to share the vision with others.
