OIL PAINTING TECHNIQUES
INSTRUCTOR: PHIL LEAR

Each week students will focus on a different oil painting application technique during this four week intermediate class. These will include the classical thin-to-thick manner, oil wash, painting in the impasto style, and the alla prima approach. We will work from still life, and at least one project will involve doing an under-drawing prior to coming in to class that week.

Students will gain at least some entry-level experience in each of these techniques, or polish the skills they already have, and will leave class with their own examples of each style of painting.

It would be beneficial to have students with at least some prior oil painting experience, such as Oil Painting Foundations with Jess Preble.
