Upcoming Classes and Workshops

Past Classes and Workshops

Kay has been monoprinting since 1982 when she went to work for Phoenix Art Press in Arizona. At that facility she worked alongside many distinguished artists producing monoprints that were sold to designers, galleries, corporations and individuals across the nation and internationally. "It was a great education being with so many creative minds all making monoprints in their own styles. Monoprinting is a very liberating media with lots of room for innovation and experimentation."

Artist's Statement

When I was in college my associates and I would dream of having a community of artists that represented many different disciplines of art where we could interact, learn and share our knowledge…Cottonwood is that dream come true! I am committed to growing the Printmaking Studio into a place of learning and sharing of ideas and techniques.

Artist's Biography

Born in 1954 in the rural, northern end of the Adirondacks of New York I spent my childhood wandering the mountainside woods and swimming in the clear, cold lakes. In my teens we moved to Phoenix, AZ, where I grew to appreciate the desert as much as I love the forest. I took my first art classes at Glendale Community College and found my passion. I went another few years to Arizona State University studying ceramics, painting, printmaking and French. Upon leaving that institution I spent the next 7 or so years at various Graphic Arts positions including Samaritan Health Services (Phx., AZ) and SUNY at Cobelskill, NY. In 1982 I landed a position at Phoenix Art Press, AZ, creating Monotypes and ordering supplies for the 50+/- artists that worked there. In 1989 I went off on my own working for Rosenbaum Fine Art, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and then a few years with Slaymaker Fine Art, Chicago, IL. In 2001 I moved to Manitou Springs where I joined Commonwheel Artists Co-op. Currently I show at Commonwheel and have a studio and run the Printmaking Facility at Cottonwood. For a more detailed description of my history, past shows and accolades please visit my website www.billiard-art.com.
