Do you want to get your hands dirty and learn how to make beautiful functional pieces you can use every day? Bowls, cups, and simple vases are great projects for beginners but students with more experience are just as welcome! Starting with preparing the clay to throwing on the wheel this class is full of hands-on experience. Learn the properties of firing and finishing, the importance of temperature control, and basic glazing techniques. Make sure to pick up the Pottery Toolkit from Meininger’s before your first class session.
This is our popular 8-week wheel-throwing course, broken into two 4-week sessions. Novice students are welcome to join during either session, and will learn beginning techniques, while experienced students will receive a level of instruction relative to their artistic and technical goals. While it's not required to enroll in both sessions, enrolling in any two consecutive sessions (Session 1 then Session 2, Session 2 then the next Session 1) will give you the full, recommended learning experience.
Pottery Toolkit from Meininger. All other materials (25 pounds of clay) included with a $15 fee payable to instructor on the first day of class.
