FOUNDATIONS IN DRAWING

In this class, students will learn all the essential elements of drawing from observation: shape, line, form, shading, composition and expression. Students will draw from still life, casts, and the skeleton. Essential to all art forms, foundation drawing is a primary class for beginning students, although multiple sessions of this class will build upon themselves and continue to develop strong foundations in drawing techniques and concepts. Charcoal, pencil, and pastel will be the primary materials used.

MATERIALS

Drawing board and bulldog clips
18x24" drawing pad (white)
Large vine charcoal sticks
Wolff's Carbon pencils (B, 2B)
White charcoal or white pencil
Kneaded easer
Chamois

Optional supplies:

Conté or colored pastel
Toned paper
