Bill Simpson

Stained Glass Craftsman
Colorado Springs

Bill Simpson is a stained glass and wood craftsman living in Colorado Springs. He specializes in copper foiled and leaded glass panels in a variety of styles and he also builds one-of-a-kind lamps featuring copper-foiled glass shades on hardwood bases. Bill has worked in glass for more than twenty years.

The motifs most often found in Bill's work derive from his interest in the American Southwest, plant forms, and the precision and balance found in Japanese design. His works include a series of panels capturing the color and movement of American Indian dancing, multi-layered panels that mimic the depth of natural scenes, and windows that are purely abstract splashes of color. However, he has also designed playful images of cats and dragons, panels based upon children's drawings, and other flights of fancy. Bill's work has won awards in Colorado and in New Mexico.

Prior to launching his stained glass business and moving to Colorado, Bill was a college professor, a management consultant, and staff for state legislative and higher education committees, while living in Michigan, New York, and New Mexico.

Bill is founding president of the Glass Artists of the Pikes Peak Region.
